Sure, but then again, that programmer isn't doing much in making items, its way 
easier to add a item to a game then fixing 1 bug (reliably). While the creation 
of a item does take time, all its steps are known and effect is minimal to the 
game. Going thru a big code project like a game engine which is added upon over 
the years like that tree in the corner of one's living room round this time of 
the year is a lot more work.

Having a good lead on what is exactly causing it, narrows down the bug-seeking 
for them, and will get them to be able to reproduce it, test it, etc. It sounds 
nice to link such, but the work done by a programmer to patch 1 bug can be way 
more then the addition of several items.

This doesn't devaluate the point that some bugs that where mentioned earlier 
should have been addressed long ago. If they are so hard to find out, make the 
dump/crash system via steam better clientside to capture what they would need 
or the submittal of errors/crashes from servers to valve.
