What does the httpd error logs say?
Nothing at all. I mentioned access logs because of the /lack/ of hits.
As in no client even attempts to load it.
Have you tried using meta tags for redirection or iframes?
Haven't tried, but I would much rather have the direct URL work if
it's possible. Does anyone else have this bug or any suggestions on
how to actually fix it instead of workarounds?
