I think the point is that the steamcmd command line tool isn't very intuitive to use. As you say, content providers use it too to manage their games on steam, and I can't imagine that they have any less difficulties with it than some of us have had. That said, once you make a few scriptfiles and call them instead of using steamcmd interactively it isn't that bad. But tabcompletion of commands would be very welcome, for example.
