No reasons exist not to, but there are few reasons why it won't happen
instantly. I do not think it prudent to use 4.1 with glibc-2.3.6. gcc
devs have said as much and I am in no position to disagree. The other
factors are time and available help from the community building,
testing, recommending things, etc.

FWIW, I am planning on cutting a gcc-4.1/glibc-CVS branch when I get
back from England. Since all of this is considered alpha, I have no
qualms getting a head start on the future of the toolchain. The only
holdup is a possible change in the layout of the HLFS repository. It may
get moved to the LFS repository for ease of administration, but that is
not set in stone at this point.
