First question:  what version of Hobix is this?  If it's not recent SVN
trunk, it's not likely to work with recentish Ruby.

We're trying to get our act together for an 0.5 release which actually
works, but it's been slow going.  Hopefully we can get it out the door
this month though.

In the meantime I would recommend using hobix from SVN.
