Right, the pairings not determined beforehand. I've got a hash
serialized in a column and was trying to think up a nice way to do the
input.

About the only way I've thought of so far without redoing the
controller or model is to build a hash like form by renaming the value
inputs with the key inputs via javascript before submitting. By doing
it like that, rails will take care of making those values a hash but
it's kinda clumsy and requires the javascript to hook to the form
submission. I also thought of making a pair of virtual attributes in
the model that build a hash between them from an array of values. And
last was hijacking the input-man with a fake association somehow.

Really, there's lots of ways to do it but was trying to think of a
clean enough way to maybe make a new input tag that doesn't require
changes to the model or controller. A self contained tag.
