You're pretty much stuck - quite a few plugins have moved their repos to git. Quite frankly, I'd recommend that you switch providers if bluehoust can't either (a) install git for you or (b) give you compiler access so you can install it yourself. I've had more luck with Site5 (for shared hosting), where they gave me compiler access to build a more recent version of ruby/rubygems than they were running.
