I just learned that Michel Desbois, CIO of the CSREES agency within USDA, has worked through many of the tutorials in "Rapid Rails with Hobo" and has even deployed a Hobo app to Heroku. He has also provided some very useful editorial comments that will be included in the next draft.
Michel has been an open source visionary at USDA, and took a risk at letting us try out Hobo over a year ago on a pilot project. As Tom and Bryan can attest, there are many enhancements that have been fed back into Hobo that would not be there without his support as well as the encouragement from an astute CSREES project manager and veteran of decades of Software Wars--John Mingee. He directs the REEport development effort which is a Hobo app running on JRuby that will be used to replace a legacy project tracking and workflow system for all CSREES funding research and extension projects. To learn more about these projects, see www.reeis.usda.gov. Just an FYI. info on CSREES can be found here: http://www.csrees.usda.gov/ As of October 1, the name will be changed to The National Institute for Food and Agriculture (NIFA). It appears that NIFA will have additional prominence in the US government in the coming years, with new programs modeled after NIH. This will give Hobo huge visibility in the coming months, -O --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Hobo Users" group.
