The point Matt was making was to remove the new-page def from application.dryml entirely. The only reason to do something like that is if you plan on using the page in more than one place (unlikely for a new-page but possible for show or index maybe).
If you don't define a specific page for new-page, it uses the default one. By defining a blank new-page, there is no parameters to replace and no page really to replace. Make sense?
