Hi Edward,
   Can you give a little background on the infrastructure you're using?
 When developing I use the development environment with the included Webrick
server.  This can be slow as there is a lot of debug stuff going on in the
background and the DRYML items are recompiled when a request is made to the
server and the source files have changed.  When deployed to production I use
the production environment with Apache web server.  The first request to the
server is slow as all of the DRYML items get compiled.  After that
everything runs very smoothly indeed.
