it was $300 per minute. And it wasn't clear how much prep would

Yow! That's quite pricey - even a typical indie record budget of $10k
for a 60-minute disc is only about half that rate...
One thing I wish existed (and will work on when that mythical "free
time" appears) is a cross between Webrat/Selenium and a video
recorder. Basically, you'd write a test script and the code would
produce a video of the browser / apps executing it. Then all you'd
need to do is dub the audio over - could be great for marketing
presentations / app demos as well...
