Strangely I can't get the div version to work, but after more trial
and error I've found that adding a float: fixes it!

.transition-button {display: inline-block; float: right; }

or
.transition-button {display: inline-block; float: left; }

So thank you for all your help guys! I would never have figured this
out alone
