Kevin, Wow, that was easy!
changed the field from :text to :serialized, per your suggestion---and worked right off the bat. ...got to give the 'ol "That Was Easy!' a honk on that one. Seems like the Hobo Cookbook section on Hobo Fields should be updated to include that.
