CSS is probably the easiest way. <input type="text" value="0" name="skill_type[skill_bases][-1][value]" id="skill_type_skill_bases_-1_value" class="value-tag integer skill- base-value">
Above is example of integer input box from hobo. so if you style input.integer with a width, you should be good.
