I'm having an issue when trying to specify belongs_to relationships in a form using text fields. They get cleared when they shouldn't. Details:

The problems with this are that: - I have to go in and modify the controller actions with code that belongs in the filter chain - The associated objects are created before validations, meaning stray objects can created and never associated to anything. I can't think of a way to communicate with the after_validate callback to signal clean up.
