I don't think you're right here.   I say current_user.tags   and hobo ignores 
the fact that Tag.rb says

 belongs_to :owner, :class_name => "User", :creator => true

so  Tag has an owner_id, but the generated sql in <check-many> gives user_id.

the has many through relationships are between recipe and tag.
