Are you trying to log in as the original "admin" user that you created on the front page? One thing about the invite only generator is that the state of that original user never gets changed to "active". I always use a throwaway login for that, invite myself, and make myself an admin. That way my admin user is properly "active" on the site, and can log in normally. A bug, but easy to work around.
