basically, you can stick whatever javascript in you want. for stuff at that level, I usually look at the generated html and figure out where I want to put the additional js and usually it's not an issue to get to whatever element needs it. If you want to use radio buttons, you should be able to roll your own pretty easily. I'd use the select-menu tag source as a place to start.
