Setting an instance variable at the class level won't do what you expect - for
instance, this:

class SomeClass

  @some_var = 'FOO'

  def index
    puts @some_var
  end
end

will *not* display 'FOO'. You'll need to override the actions you want to load
the @json instance variable, like this:

class BpsController < ApplicationController
  hobo_model_controller
  auto_actions :all

  def index
    @json = Bp.all.to_gmaps4rails
    hobo_index
  end
end
