There's a reference in clean.css (generated by default in 
public/hobothemes/clean/stylesheets/clean.css):

#ajax-progress {
        padding: 8px 20px 8px 40px;
        border: 1px solid #444;
        background: black url(../images/spinner.gif) no-repeat 10px 8px;
        color: white;
}

There's also the spinner tag in rapid_core.dryml which you'd need to 
re-implement:

  <img src="#{base_url}/hobothemes/#{Hobo.current_theme}/images/spinner.gif" 
class="hidden" merge-attrs/>
</def>
