At the moment there's very little difference between 1.4.0.pre7, master and rails-3.2 except for the rails-3.2 support on the rails-3.2 branch.
The easiest way to install is via gem install hobo -v 1.4.0.pre7 so you might as well go with that unless you are feeling a little bit adventurous and want to try rails 3.2.
