Hello everyone,

 I am managing a telecommunications company and have inherited a very badly
written, and un-maintainable PHP application tracking assets destined for
rental.

 Leaning on an antiquated Computer Science degree, a good understanding of
database design, a fair knowledge of old programming languages, (Modula-2 &
its succesor Oberon were the closest I got to Object Oriented techniques!!)
and a continued curiosity for the evolution of programming languages, I
have spent a lot of my spare time trying to rewrite the above application
using Hobo.

 I persevered through a lot of frustrating hours – digging through blogs,
and have now reached a point where I am fairly happy the with database
structure of the application.

 I have stayed mostly in the models so far...

 I am left with two unrelated separate issues that go against ‘good design
principles’.

 So two posts coming up...
