I will integrate your first suggestion in my application as it avoids me denormalizing the Device model. Purists will probably frown at tracking the update timestamp for :device_movement in :device. I will settle for that as it is a huge improvement over a denormalized table. ps Later, I will invest time to understand ransack as it really looks cool; my to-do list is still very big - notwithstanding the numerous topics I still have to read & understand - as I am hoping to start testing the application with real data soon.
