Just about any disadvantage of hobo can be bypassed by just switching to the rails way of doing things.
About the only disadvantage over rails that can't be bypassed like that, is that hobo is slightly slower to render. I'd say this is more than compensated by the added development speed. Just take some of that time saved at the end to do a bit of optimization/caching. Or, throw a bit more hardware at it. Either way works.
