No, there is nothing wrong with your approach :). Most web applications
trust that their users will have control and security over their email
addresses, and that's how the "Recover my password" method works.

If you want more security, you would have to use 2factor, with a mobile
phone SMS (like Authy), or a smartcard, or a hardware token (like Yubikey).

By the way, there are applications that have just got completely rid of
passwords: they just send a link to the user's inbox, and use it for
logging in until the session expires. Take a look at this interesting
