Hi Jack -

Hmmm... My experience with bad email addresses is that the mail system just sends out the mail and if it is a bad address, you eventually receive an "undeliverable" message - at least that is how it works with the several email systems i have used - aol, yahoo, hotmail, netscape, and the new one from my ISP.

Other people i am sure have more expereince.

It doesn't sound to me like it had a problem with the email address itself but with getting to the email server that sends the mail in the first place... Sometimes i compose a message in yahoo, as i am doing right now, and when i hit send i get an error message related to being unable to get to the server... And so i have to retry in a few minutes...

Maybe what happened for you was different.

I would not worry about it unless it recurs frequently - to me, frequently means more than once a day.

Good luck.

love and peace,
joyce

Your error message meant that it took too long to get to the server
that does the translation between name and address and vice-versa.

Bottom line is that sometimes this happens when there is too much
traffic... and often all it takes is retrying again later.

Hope that was the case for you.

Thanks, Joyce. Could this also happen if the email address was invalid and a server ran out of time searching for it? Or, would this example always get an "invalid address" error message?

Jack
