sure did.
once more it rained for days and the mosquitoes are
out in force so i didn't get to spend too much time
outdoors.
had to settle for observing a whole group of baby downy
woodpeckers brought to my feeder by their parents.
they are larger and fatter than their parents ...
but not too skilled yet in hopping/flying/pecking. ;)
and the poor mom and dad look overworked.
they still feed them by mouth but are slowly getting
the young to find and figure out how to get to the
suet i put out.
so it was a lot of fun watching this new family.

also have young wrens about to fledge ...

and chipmonks at the feeder as well ...
jamming their cheeks full of seed.
makes me laugh to see them.

and a new little snake who likes to crawl up onto my
woodpile to sun. he isn't spooked so i can get up
to within a foot or so to give him a close look.
the mosquitoes even bite him!!! somehow poke inbetween
his scales.
i am amazed watching this little guy crawl along branches
in the tree ... most amazing way they move/glide.

wasps have made a nest inside of my radio!!!
so i leave it outside now instead of bringing it into the
cabin at night. soon i hope the young hatch and then i
may be able to remove the nest.
i have never had a problem with wasps/hornets ...
they fly at me when i get too close and sometimes
land on me ... i think they are just getting salt ...
but i rarely have been stung ... only when stepping
on one when not paying attention.
gives a new meaning to walking meditation. ;)
and ... there is a plus side to being stung ...
after the intial pain passes ...
in a day or two it feels sooooooo gooooood to lightly
rub ... not scratch ... the swelling. it is a most
estatic feeling ... i kid you not. ;)
it's wonderful.
and ... seems to help ease arthritus.
i high reccommend a little wasp venom. ;)

why not find the positive in things, eh? ;)

i enjoyed all of this and can't wait to get back.
