It can do

just changing your email address occasionaly (to twart spammers)
browsing from the web and using web based e-mail
is adeqaute for most people

That, and reading some lists in digest mode. There are a few lists with loads of attachments and unfortunately the possibility of viruses is high now, what with the anniversary of 9-11.

or in terms of self . . .
- oversensivity is not a problem if what comes in (being open)
does not get stuck on its passage through

Most people (strange but true) have an emotional need
to hold on to their pain
better to feel something than nothing (according to that theory)

Pain is strange like that. A true story: I broke a toe and another bone in my foot this summer. They have been healing nicely, the bone in my foot seems all mended and pain free. My toe occasionally produces a small sharp pain when i stretch, and to be honest, it feels kinda good. I don't have a lot of sensation in my feet anymore, and feeling that little twinge of pain is great after so much numbness.

Maybe it is a little bit like that for people who have become emotionally numbed out? Not being one of them, myself, though...

>being totally trasparent ...

I think this is a good policy and
what comes in goes out and through

Not even that much to watch . . .

>invisible ...

LOL
the best form of invisibility is
wearing garish clothing . . .
maybe that is just a Lobsterian trait . . .

:)

One of the best ways to be left alone in public is to talk to yourself loudly and strangely and act slightly bizarre. Even muggers steer clear of odd people.

Fascinating.
I did not recommend it

:)

Weeelll, i did say that i thought it was you who suggested it.

Looks like i'm now automatically allocating credit for great technology tips to Lobster. Better to get unwarranted credit than unwarranted blame.

and personally I do not use it as much as opera.
I had both on the system with IE
and ended up using Opera mostly

Will have to try that one next. Thanks for the reminder.

Good news.

I think there is room for preferences. I remember when
Netscape (mozilla) and IE (Internet Explorer) where battling it out
I preferred Netscape for its speed but most people preferred IE for its ease of use.

I preferred Netscape, too, because it was NOT M$.

So who recommended FireFox?

Took me a while to figure it out - Gene Poole on a list elsewhere. So, thanks to Gene.

- I remember they were really in to it - so they have a convert . . .
I would recommend the other Fox - Foxmail but maybe you will prefer the excellent Thunderbird?

I have had Thunderbird installed for about 6 months - it's all configured and ready to use, but i have not been able to find a satisfactory antivirus plugin that works with it. AVG does not - or if it does, it is beyond my limited abilities to get it to work.

Others recently have also suggested Foxmail - maybe i'll try that one, too.

All these foxes - pretty neat.

Firefox, Foxmail, FoxPro, the Tooting Fox - pretty cool beastie.

Hey - I also came across I-scribe - very small nice and suitable for use on a USB keyring
and perhaps even more suitable for USB is JBmail
http://jbmail.pc-tools.net/

jbmail looks great, especially their "Sanity Check" feature! Thanks for the link.

Thanks for the compliment. Today, it's one of those early autumn rainy days - the kind when the rain comes straight down and makes great whooshing noises and the car tires make those slippery swishing noises. A good day to make a warm and spicy soup.
