Have you noticed there is a sort of symmetry to trees and spring and autumn? The magnolias are one of the first trees to bloom here (after forsythia and lilac, well, those are shrubs not trees, right?). They are also one of the last trees to have their leaves change colors. They seem to have stayed green much longer than the maples and oaks. I think same for the birch trees - they kept their beautiful golden leaves well beyond when the others had already faded and fallen.

Hard to believe it's December already! Here it is raining softly - you can hear the swishing of the car tires on the roadway pavement  outdoors... really a pleasing noise.
