Hello Know Mystery, hi ts there are two other virus checkers that are good
avast and antivir - YOU CAN get away without using a virus checker but it takes a degree of being smart (never opening any attacments in e-mail) and so on avg is good I am using anti-vir (excellent) and avast seems good too - the problem with anti virus programs is they reside in memory (much like a virus) hide in weird places - come up with false positives and slow the system down - I have not had a virus infection for a while - but people send them in attachments daily - a strange hobby If you feel confident enough do a check and then turn the RESIDENT virus checker off I wish you luck ts - been trying to get a connection for two hours could be a DOS (denial of service attack) or a loose connection (a bit of both) created a new network plug deleted the rogue program restricting my internet access Earllier I was trying to get into Linux - not accepting any password - now that is secure - it wont even let me in as a user or as a superuser (admin) Avast is more fun (I have not long term experience of it though . . . I wish you luck Lobster - good stuff happening on Peace Elements - the PAX in many languages - good plan Lob >Hi ts - > >what mailer client are you using with AVG? > >It does not have plugins (for want of a better word) >for all of the mailers. > >last spring i was unable to get it to work with >Thunderbird mail, and so stuck with yahoo. > >so, check and see if your mailer or browser is >compatible. i know it works nicely with Eurora and a >few others, maybe Outlook Express, but not with all of >them. > >good luck, >love and peace, >joyce > >--- ts <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > >> >> finally installed AGV anti virus ... >> and now i can't send any email! >> this is unsatisfactory. >> >> i get this error: >> SMPT server does not support this form of >> authentication. >> >> i've turned off the email scanner now but no change. >> what's up with this! ;( >> >> -ts- ------------------------ Yahoo!
