Hello Yosy Flug,
>Hi friends, I keep getting "connection failed!" message when trying to >enter curlchat. Is it only me? :) No it happened with me too - and I was so annoyed (I also got a message that my license was running out) that I uninstalled Curl in a moment of pique and unholy geekery :-) >And a similar to the above message I posted to "curl" directly on site >did not arrive. Same with messages I posted directly to other groups - >though I got the "message posted" confirmation... Any suggestions? > >yosy m m m . . . having similar problems with some forums that are very reliable not posting anymore . . . The main culprit is George Bush and Bill Gates (the Bushgate conspiracy) What can I say Yosy . . . there are too many variables - it is why greater simplicity will be in such demand in the future. People will DEMAND to have their Operating System in hardware (as on a phone) Here are some of the potential culprits (these just as they come to me) * I signed up for a spam filtering service - it works very well but I no longer know where it is or how to alter settings - so you could have changed settings * The British Library recently instigated a policy that if your email is being used (in spoofing) by a black hat (mal person) then they cut YOU out of the equation - even though you may be unaware - so you might be guilty until innocent - make sure you secure and understand your system * New software sometimes changes behaviour * the worst hacker IS US (that is us not United States - though . .. .) Because I love playing with my system installing new software, downloading weird programming languages (The Hot Soup Processor - was in Japanese) I have to also be quite strict at times. * Uninstall PROPERLY programs that are not being used * Check at least once a week with spybot and a virus checker * Run spywareblaster * If it works DONT FIX IT * Pray (as you know I have a page on computer worship) I am sorry at not being able to offer more consolation Where is that Izzy when you need him? If it is any consolation I am booting from floppy (still) I know I will have to sort it soon but ( m m m maybe it could be a special Xmas present to the geek in me . . . get my computer working properly) Gosh I think this must be the only geek support group where everybody admits they do not have a clue . . . If you are using Outlook express (I don't think you are) get rid of that it does weird things after the mail boxes start to fill up - which frankly is when you need it most However there is one (secret setting) that if you change it will provide resolution to your troubles It is the power button (on/off switch) Lobster ------------------------ Yahoo!
