We have been looking for some standards on home network physical
configurations. Anybody that can point us to some existing standards, and do
you have opinions on how good they are? We've been looking for a while, but
while we've seen many white papers from local governments and ISPs as well as
some related standards, but have yet to find one a comprehensive one that we
really liked.

See http://tools.ietf.org/html/draft-arkko-homenet-physical-standard-00 for a discussion of what we'd
like to find and some proposed requirements. Basically we are looking for something that would say use
<these> cabling standards, reserve <this much> space, equip the space in <this way>,
and use <these> power, cabinet and rack standards. Comments appreciated.

Jari
