I agree with your concern, but sufficient != necessary.
I do not believe that anyone *OUGHT* to pay attention to DNS search
order as provided by DHCP.
That doesn't mean that it shouldn't be available!!!!
(Most systems I've seen get this wrong. If you select DHCP, your search
path is forced to DHCP, you have to select static to pick it)
