Yeah.  They look just like Ethernet to the host, so short of speaking the
HomePlug AV management protocol, I don't see how to detect them.  I'm
waiting for Barbara to give me some hints.

Please don't, Dave.  I've spent much of my last months trying to show that
the Homenet stack is reasonably easy to implement.  The reason for that is
that the only unusual data plane feature that we require is source-specific
routing -- everything else is just easy control plane stuff that can be
implemented in software even if you're doing your forwarding in hardware.
