All your commands are peeking at the state of the kernel.  You've got
other layers in your software stack, and when debugging you often need to
find out each of the different states:

  - netifd's state can be obtained by running ifstatus on each interface;
  - babeld's state can be obtained by sending it the USR1 signal and
    extracting the results from /var/log/babeld;
  - I don't recall right now how to get hnetd's state, you'll need to ask
    the guys.
