OK, I'm just finished with a fresh honeynet install under VMWare workstation - I wouldn't be here now if it hadn't been for the support of Shawn Jefferson and many others from the mailing list.
I started out yesterday with a w2k honeypot but that didn't work out too well It turned out that a w2k box will get owned by worms&spyware etc in a matter of minutes so that was only annoying :p I reformatted my entire Host machine, and have just finished installing Honeywall with a win2003 x64 enterprise (fully updated) as my primary honeypot. I was also thinking about adding a vulnerable Linux server to the mix to make things a bit more interesting - any suggestions as to which distro and version I should choose here? Also, if you have any tips to add or suggestions for my honeypot - please do tell :) Thank you Øivind
