Hi All,I am trying to get a honeywall built with 3 nics. Its a foxconn P4M800 mobo with built in network card. I added 2 x SMC 1Gbps network cards hoping to use them as eth0 and eth1 and use the built in 100mbps network card as eth2 for management.
I installed the cd from roo-1.4.hw-20090425114542.iso and ran through the setup ok. I enabled management on eth2 and gave it an IP address and connected it to my router.
I am using another PC connected to the same router to try connect to the management interface.
It seems to me the onboard NIC is used as eth0 and the first SMC card is used as eth1, but there is no second SMC card loaded.
I connected the network cable to the onboard network card and ran ipconfig eth0 which shows it as running and the MAC address links to the foxconn mobo card.
I connected the network cable to the SMC card #1 network card and ran ipconfig eth1 which shows it as running and the MAC address links to an SMC network card.
I connected the network cable to the SMC card #2 network card and ran ipconfig eth2 which gives me a device not found.
Can anyone give some tips on a way forward from here? How can I make the onboard NIC be eth2 instead of eth0? Thanks MikeTheSpike
