I don't like this trend of needing to hear someone else perform the music
to learn it. There really is room for individual interpretation and
expression in music.

It would be nice to have more choices of modern works for horn, I have
written two concerti, a concerto for two horns and a piece for solo horn
with brass quintet. BUT, really I am writing in because we don't discuss
modern music well. There seemed to be disdain for Elliot Carter recently.

I for one have the CD with Magnus Lindberg's Campana in aria; Esa Tapani
and the Finnish Radio Symphony. I like the way it starts, I like the
tremeli, and I think the performance is nice. I would try for more musical
line.

Also Another the Reiner Bredemeyer Horn Konzert with Sabastian Weigle &
Staskapelle Berlin - I love his vibrato, I need to listen to this in one
sitting, but I think it's worth several listens.

What else is already recorded in new works for Horn?

Richard O. Burdick

What is the reason asking for that ? To have samples demonstrating how
these concertos would sound ? Isn?t everything written in the score ?
