I'd quibble about Goldsmiths' being outside London. Outside Central London perhaps, but just across the river from Docklands. An advantage is that Goldsmiths' is far enough from the posh parts of London to make the cost of living a little more affordable. At least that was the case when I studied there '78-81. I've no idea how the music department is these days but I had a great time. My horn teachers were Trevor Jones (who has written a fair amount of film music - google him if you're interested) and then Ian Harper who was at that time principal horn at the Royal Opera House (and got us free tickets sometimes). Also on the staff were Paul Steinitz and Edward Gregson... Happy days. Sorry, that wasn't very relevent but I let nostalgia get the better of me. More relevant - the college orchestra was of a good standard highlights that I remember: Paul Patterson's "Cicular ruins", a UK premiere of a Sallinen Symphony; Stravinsky's "Pulcinella Suite". Sibelius 2nd and 3rd symphonies and so on and so on. Regards, Graham Jarvis -- Jag använder gratisversionen av SPAMfighter för privata användare. 9898 spam har blivit blockerade hittills.
