Hi Steve, thanks for your suggestions - I'm afraid I already have all that. I was looking for a different solution for those particular passages, not that problem in general. Let's be honest, I looking for someone high up to tell me that everyone plays those four bars open. :-) At the moment I have my mute on a string and am playing the low written B and D# with the mute half in.
