[email protected] asked "Anyone know how long one will need to wait to be
able to play horn again after having this surgery?"

I had this procedure a few years ago, and for the first couple of days,
hornplaying was the last thing on my mind. I simply lacked the energy level--I
don't know that I could have held the horn in place for very long, let alone
blow into it. I think it was probably 5-6 days before I had the steam for
this; my memory is that I was back in rehearsal 8 days after the surgery but
being careful. But the surgery itself was not a barrier to playing.

I think, as someone else wrote, you need to listen to your body and go from
there. Probably not the time to work on the Long Call, but maybe some of the
lower, gentler Bach Suites movements would do and some scales and such. That
is--enough playing to keep your lip alive for several days until you really are
ready to go.
