Thanks, Melvin.

I like Eric Whitacre pieces. We did October, and also Equus and Godzilla Eats
Las Vegas. If you must do a Pops piece, that last on is a definite option. I
should think October would playable by our bands, but the last two might be
getting out of playability level for the bands I'm thinking of.

Grainger is always a good bet, and I do like Holsinger, but haven't heard of
the Hymnsong one. I also like almost everything by Frank Ticheli, but I've
never had the chance to play Shenandoah. Must start lobbying for it. Again, he
writes great higher level stuff, which are over the heads of our rehearsal
time, some key personnel and instrumentation in general.

I will definitely YouTube the rest in hopes of giving them a listen.

Anybody know of anybody who's writing "good" middle school band lit? (And I'm
not talking elementary level like the Japanese band from the YouTube link.)

Thanks!

Erica
