There's no satisfactory answer because you're asking the wrong
question.  There is no stated reason for you to buy the "horn of a
lifetime" now - buy something used that's much less expensive, sell it
later - probably for as much as you paid for it - and put that money
towards your Paxman 25.  You need to be asking a different question
than the one you asked.  I'd also love to buy a $9k horn, and I'm also
not going to be a performance major.
