I am with you on this one Walt. Back in the day, when I lived in Boston and
played the 103 all the time, I played the B #1 and several screaming Bach
Cantatas on the 103 - I couldn't understand why anyone would buy a descant
horn. When it was really tough, I did the old Farkas maneuver of pulling out
the F slides to lighten up the horn and it helped (or at least seemed to -
which is the same)

Of course, in my old age, that particular ship has sailed, but it's still fun
to take the horn out and try to "sing the old songs."

meanwhile, I play my Paxman model 80 most of the time

With my tongue firmly planted in my cheek, I took offense to your reference
that a Paxman is better than an Alex 103.

Posted by a person that has two (not just 1) world quality Alex 103's and
thinks they are great horns!

I must apologize for my last submission
to the List appearing three times.

This was due to an email glitch.

Strangely when I emailed
<mailto:[email protected]>[email protected]
to try to correct the error, this latter
message bounced back to me.

Is this email horn-owner address in error?
