Come back players are especially vulnerable to a certain stress that life-long players are not. We're musically mature, we know what we wan't to sound like, but we lack the technical skills to make it happen. As a result we tend to push ourselves harder than we should in an effort to "catch up" with other musicians our age. This can injure us physically and neurologically. So my first piece of advice is, take it easy and be patient with your learning curve! On the technical side here's what I'd recommend: Scales, arpeggios, Clarke's Technical Studies for Cornet, play along CDs to help you with intonation, a high potency stress B vitamin formula, gingko (the herb), and -- when you're ready for it -- "The Balanced Embouchure."
