Greetings!
This list has previously been a great source of information about repertoire
for horn, violin, and piano. I am now looking for specific recommendations for
a specific need.
My colleagues and I are preparing a program of music that will feature the
Brahms trio as the final work. I am looking for a good "opener" and one or two
other works (depending on length) for the concert--all scored for horn, violin,
and piano. We will fill out the program with short works for horn and piano,
violin and piano, and/or solo piano.
The audience is relatively "unsophisticated", so I'm looking for very
accessible pieces. (Ligeti is not an option, for example) They may resent
anything too heavy. Appropriate adjectives might be "light", "fun", "tonal",
etc. I know some may say the Brahms doesn't qualify, but we love it too much
not to do it. I guess I'm looking for "a spoonful of sugar" to "help the
medicine go down." :-)
Recommendations?
Thank you for your help!
