A beautiful piece that could be added to the program is Cantilene by Dubois,
which is available from Pelican Music Publishing.

The sound file doesn't work on the page, but if need be I can send you a
recording of it.

I apologize for the sound file not working. I do want to take a minute to all
of Pelican Music's customers out there. I am sorry that you haven't seen new
music being posted. I have been going through a tough period since I lost my
husband suddenly 8 months ago. If you met me at the IHS convention, he was my
helper. Since then it has been difficult focusing on the business. I am
trying to juggle our house, yard, dogs and grief, and then trying to find time
to focus on Pelican. It doesn't always work. But I am always one step closer.

I hope to soon have a new work by Doug Hill for sale for Horn, Cello, Clarinet,
Tenor and Piano. It is a beautiful work that I just heard performed.

Sincerely,

Sandy Petersen

Greetings!

This list has previously been a great source of information about repertoire
for
horn, violin, and piano. I am now looking for specific recommendations for a
specific need.

My colleagues and I are preparing a program of music that will feature the
Brahms trio as the final work. I am looking for a good "opener" and one or two
other works (depending on length) for the concert--all scored for horn, violin,
and piano. We will fill out the program with short works for horn and piano,
violin and piano, and/or solo piano.

The audience is relatively "unsophisticated", so I'm looking for very
accessible
pieces. (Ligeti is not an option, for example) They may resent anything too
heavy. Appropriate adjectives might be "light", "fun", "tonal", etc. I know
some may say the Brahms doesn't qualify, but we love it too much not to do it.
I guess I'm looking for "a spoonful of sugar" to "help the medicine go down."
:-)

Recommendations?

Thank you for your help!
