Hello Bill,

having such super-ambitious female players in any section of any
orchestra,
no matter amateur or professional, would be a nightmare for the
particular section & the
orchestra as a whole. So she deserved some hacking.

As I said many times before but repeat again, playing in the orchestra
must never be seen
as a competition, even it has some in common with the olympics:
"Be a part of it, is worth joining. If I contribute to the success of
the organisation, I will
participate on the public recognition also, which gives a lot of
satisfaction."

But some people might be masochists & remain so, despite well meant
advise by more
experienced colleagues or by players with life long experience in the
high level professional
field.

"Cooking spoon swinger horn players all over the world, unite !" - but
these male players, who still
are hang on mothers kilt, join them - all together, male players, who
do not know if they are
male, female or nothing.

Fortunately we have many examples of female players, who perform
excellently, who do not have
or develop these strange attitudes which destroy the ensemble, but are
most valuable & reliable colleagues
in many orchestras.
