There's a reason for that. It has to do with the taper of the leadpipe and  
the taper of the mouthpiece shank. It has to match up, and not all 
mouthpiece  tapers do this on all horns. 
 
Funny how we're looking at the one end that doesn't even touch the horn  
when we're condemning Tom Greer about this philosophy.
