I'm nearing the end of a 10-session rolfing experience. Last session,
the guy stuck his hand (with plastic glove) in my mouth and stretched
out the top and bottom areas where the gums join the cheeks. It was a
bit sore for a day or two, but no more than anything else has done, and
the muscles seem to enjoy their new outlook. He has also done
significant work on back and neck muscles, which sure needed it. For
instance, I can turn my head both ways to a greater degree than I could
for many years. In one session he kind of dug my ribs out so as to let
them expand better, and free my diaphragm - I seem to be able to breathe
a bit deeper now, though I have no before/after measurements to back
that up. I'm wondering if anyone here has had similar work done, and if
so, how it strikes you re increasing your musculature after all these
years of getting beaten down by the playing positions we assume for tens
of thousands of hours of our lives.
